Depending on the breed, the age or the condition of the dog, all are not equal to their resistance to cold . Although the dog is much more resistant than the human face to the cold, many parameters can vary their resistance to cold.

The fur of the dog: natural resistance to the cold

Even though our dogs’ coat has been planned by nature to allow them to live outside even in very cold weather, some breeds can not withstand low temperatures.

Their fur is an insulating layer lubricated by a secretion of the skin. This oily protection is easily destroyed by a shampoo too aggressive (hence the need to wash too much his dog) .

So if you give a bath to your dog in cold and wet weather, use a neutral soap and dry it thoroughly (towel + hair dryer) before your dog catches cold !
